Heya Urbanites! Okay, so let’s talk about the latest and greatest City of Heroes news I could drum up for us this past month.
Titan Icon 1.7 has been released and has access to every map in City of Heroes that existed (provided you know the map name). While powers don’t work and the maps are all unpopulated, you can move characters around and set up screenshots as you like with the new version. It’s handy for capturing some of your costumes that you weren’t able to get to before the server shut down. There are also some other neat features in it that may be useful to some of you. You’ll need to pour through the forums to get to all of them but you should definitely check it out. There’s a lot of good stuff in it.
If you saw my post on Champions Online, then you saw this. The news that Cryptic Studios is opening a new development studio with the explicit purpose of doing development work on Champions Online. While the game wasn’t technically running in maintenance mode before, there’s actually a chance now that some decent content will get added to the game. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and those Urbanites that are running around in Millennium City should give us a shout and let us know what they hear.
DC Online has recently made some changes to their game. Now holds and mez effects should actually work on all NPC’s and who knows, maybe that game will be worth a second look now.
Missing Worlds Media has announced that they plan to launch the Kickstarter event for the game on September the 8th. This is a big deal as currently I consider the work they’re doing to be our best, most likely hope, of getting something like the game we lost back. It’s still got a long way to go before it even has a ghost of a chance of going live, but they continue to do all the right things. I’ll keep everyone up to speed on this as we go along.
I would be completely remiss if I didn’t mention the Mumble based D&D game that’s being run Saturday mornings from 10am to 2pm eastern time. I’m hearing fantastic things about how much fun this game is so if you’ve got time, you should definitely poke your head into the mumble chat room and see what’s going on.
That’s all the major news I’ve got for now. I have personally been quite busy churning out content for this blog though. You should check some of it out if you haven’t already:
- For Star Wars fans, I had a post on How the Force should work. It’s pure geek yumminess.
- My post on what makes a good MMO was one of my recent favorites.
- And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I apologized as LockOn for all my knockback. Very important that one.
And that’s all I’ve got for now Urbanites. Feel free to peruse the site for anything that you may have missed and drop a comment if you feel like it. Everyone have a safe and happy 4th of July and we’ll see you next time.
